What is a tsubo?

This refers to the area measured by the shakkanho method, a surveying method used in the Meiji period. It is the area of ​​a square with sides of 6 shaku (1 ken), which is approximately 3.3058 m2. Based on the Chukyo ken standard, 1 tsubo is equivalent to 2 tatami mats.
