Trigonometric Function Calculator is a site that provides a free tool that allows you to calculate the trigonometric functions "sinθ: sine", "cosθ: cosine", "tanθ: tangent", "cotθ: tangent", "secθ: secant", and "cscθ: cosecant" simply by entering the "angle". It can also calculate the length of the three sides at the specified "angle (degrees/radians)".

How to use

  1. Enter the angle (° or radian) of the right triangle for which you want to find the trigonometric function.
  2. Automatically find the trigonometric function "sinθ: sine" "cosθ: cosine", "tanθ: tangent", "cotθ: tangent", "secθ: secant", and "cscθ: cosecant" are calculated.
  3. Also, the length of one of the three sides is calculated at the same time. Just enter it and the remaining two side lengths will be calculated.

What are trigonometric functions?

Trigonometric functions are mathematical functions defined based on the ratio of the sides of a right triangle or the rotation angle of a circle. They are mainly used to calculate angles (θ ) and is used in various fields such as geometry, physics, and engineering.

Major trigonometric functions and formulas

Sine (sine, sinθ)

Definition: In a right triangle, the side opposite the angle θ ÷ the hypotenuse

< p>sinθ = opposite side / hypotenuse

Range: −1≤sinθ≤1

Cosine (cosθ)

Definition: In a right triangle, the angle θ adjacent side ÷ hypotenuse

cosθ = adjacent side / hypotenuse

Range: −1≤cosθ≤1

Tangent (tanθ)

Definition: In a right triangle, the side opposite the angle θ ÷ Adjacent side

tanθ = opposite side / adjacent side

Note: When cosθ=0, tanθ is not defined (e.g., when it is 90° or -90°).

Cotangent (cotθ)

Definition: Reciprocal of tangent

cotθ = adjacent side / opposite side = 1 / tanθ

Secant (secθ)

Definition: Reciprocal of cosine

cotθ = hypotenuse / adjacent side = 1 / cosθ

Sine (sinθ)

Definition: reciprocal of sine

cotθ = hypotenuse / opposite side = 1 / sinθ

  • opposite side the side opposite the angle θ The side of the angle θ. The side that corresponds to the height
  • Adjacent side The side adjacent to the angle θ (other than the hypotenuse). Base
  • HypotentioThe longest side of a right triangle. The diagonal side
